Here’s the deal, I can tell a lot about your health by looking at you. After 15 years of training I can tell why someone comes into the clinic before they typically speak just by looking at their posture.


The intricate connection between posture and the signaling of the central nervous system (CNS) is a crucial aspect of understanding how poor posture can lead to the cascade of negative effects on so many areas of health and well-being. Let me explain how posture influences CNS signaling and its massive impact on movement quality, breathing, gut health, mood, cognitive function, and self-perception.


1. Movement Quality, Joint Health, Balance, and Athleticism:

Posture has a significant role in signaling the CNS for movement coordination and motor control. Poor posture can disrupt the neural pathways responsible for coordinating movement patterns, leading to decreased movement quality, increased strain on joints, and compromised balance and athleticism. When posture is misaligned, the CNS receives distorted signals, affecting the efficiency of movement and increasing the risk of overuse injuries and joint degeneration.


2. Breathing Quality:

When posture is poor, the diaphragm and rib cage may be restricted in their movement, impacting the CNS's ability to regulate breathing patterns.
